TEA & VISITING

A few answers,
before your visit.

From choosing tea to finding the shop: useful details in one place.

What makes a useful souvenir from Chengdu?

Sichuan tea can be a thoughtful gift for someone who enjoys tea. Choose their preferred style first, then consider your budget and luggage space when selecting loose tea, a gift box or panda tea accessories.

Where can I buy tea in Chengdu?

Look for clear shop details, displayed prices and the chance to taste before buying. Xueerjie Tea House is at No. 140, Annex 2, Xi’an South Road, Jinniu District, outside the Kuanzhai Alley scenic area. Complimentary in-store tasting is available.

How do I choose a tea shop that suits me?

Check whether it carries the styles you enjoy, then compare price, net weight, packaging and product information. Tasting different teas is more helpful than choosing by name alone.

Can I taste tea if I am a beginner?

Yes. In-store tasting is complimentary. Tell us your preferred flavours, intended use and budget, then compare at your own pace.

What is the minimum loose-tea quantity?

Loose tea starts at 50 g. For daily drinking, you can start with a small amount. Prices are displayed in the shop.

Which teas are available?

The shop focuses on Emei Xueya, jasmine Piaoxue, Mengding Ganlu, Sichuan black tea, Zhuyeqing and Bitan Piaoxue. Check current varieties and stock in the shop.

What panda souvenirs can I choose?

Choose panda green-tea or jasmine-tea gift boxes, a ceramic canister with tea, or a travel teaware set with tea. The panda tea cup is teaware only and does not include tea; panda gaiwan are also available. Consider taste, size and luggage space.

Is the shop inside Kuanzhai Alley?

No. It is on a community street beside the scenic area, at No. 140, Annex 2, Xi’an South Road, Jinniu District, Chengdu.

How do I reach the shop?

Take Metro Line 4 to Kuanzhai Alley station, Exit D, then follow map navigation. Check the full shop name and the address at No. 140, Annex 2, Xi’an South Road.

What are the opening hours? Can I drive?

The shop opens daily from 09:00 to 22:00. Parking is inconvenient, so metro or walking is worth considering. The shop is small with limited seating; at busy times there may be a wait.

Should I choose loose tea or a gift box?

Loose tea is a flexible option for daily drinking. For a gift, start with the recipient’s taste, then consider box size, net weight and ease of carrying. Both loose tea and gift boxes are available.

How can I check origin and product information?

Refer to the packaging and valid documents for the specific product. Check the product name, producer, net weight, production date and storage instructions. An SC food-production licence relates to the actual producer; geographical-indication claims also need product-specific evidence.

What should I look for in a Chengdu specialty or gift?

For a tea lover, a Chengdu tea souvenir can be selected by flavour, net weight and packaging. Start with whether the recipient likes green, jasmine or black tea, then choose loose tea or a gift box.

Should I choose Mengding Ganlu or Emei Xueya?

Compare the two green teas during the same visit. Taste their aroma and texture, then check the specific samples, prices and net weights rather than deciding by name alone.

How can tea shopping fit into a Chengdu travel guide?

The shop is on a community street near Kuanzhai Alley, so you can plan a stop before or after sightseeing. Opening hours are 09:00–22:00 daily. Allow time for your return journey and packing.
